Photography

The dictionary defines photography as:

1. The art or process of producing images of objects on photosensitive surfaces.

2. The art, practice, or occupation of taking and printing photographs.

3. A body of photographs.

The term photography comes from:

The Greek words phos,  – light and graphos – writing.

Therefore, the word photography means writing with light.

Ansel Adams, the world’s most celebrated nature and environmental photographers, and a personal hero said,

“Photography is more than a medium for factual communication of ideas.  It is a creative art.”

To me, photography is my creative outlet, my way to celebrate the world around me.  It gives me the opportunity to share my perspective with others, and hopefully share the joy and gratitude that I feel when I look around at this beautiful planet we call home.
